One dark and gloomy night, in ninetyseven of the last
century, Jeff Gilchrist and Scott Daniel Jenkins discussed
the future. It was decided that old man future probably
had plans for the two of them. Jeff's band, Stout was
mere months from becoming defunct. Scott's band, the
Diamond Quartet had not yet achieved the heights that he
had set after the demise of the infamous Mt. Fuji. Jeff
and Scott's mutual friend, Corey Cottrell was going
through his share of bands too. Yuba California morphed
into the Carters. And then there was that incident with
Claphaver. After all these bands imploded, there followed
a tortuous period of half-baked projects including, but
in no way limited to, South Outer Forty, Former Members of
Slint, and Daryl. Then it all fell into place when Scott rented
a house with a third bedroom, which quickly turned into a
den of liquor, sweat and rock & fucking roll. Scott, Corey
and Jeff began playing regular-like and soon had a few
songs. They scratched their heads, drank a beer, ate
Scott's BBQ and decided the music rawked and that they
must write more. Three months later, they had titles for
about fifteen songs, and material for about 4. After more
head scratchin', beer drinkin' and song writin', they had
a pretty solid set. They dubbed themselves Transponder 5/3
and set about spreading the word.
Currently they are poised to be recognized as the no-frills-
ass-kickin-rockin fellers that they are. So jump on the
bus and invite these lovable rockin' hoodlems into your
world. Their songs will make you say Hell Yeah and make
you want to be in a band of yer own.
